Better than Toothpaste

Yep. We said it.

And we have a feeling you’ll be saying it too while you walk around with a silly (and blindingly bright) smile on your face.

Unpaste Tooth Tabs are about to change the way you brush your teeth for the better. Gently powerful polishing agents in each tablet-sized force of nature reveal a brighter, whiter, healthier looking smile, without the filmy feeling—and the plastic tubes—toothpaste leaves behind.

Surprisingly normal

You might be thinking, “Toothpaste in a tablet? That’s just crazypants!” But, considering that you simply crunch them up to make a paste before you brush, they’re actually pretty normal. We also don’t add any unnecessary or not-so-good-for you ingredients and there’s no plastic tube to send to the landfill (we’re looking at you, toothpaste). Take the #unpastechallenge and prepare yourself for something truly better.

Two things that make us happy?

1. Healthy teeth

2. A planet with less plastic

We believe better doesn’t need to mean more complicated, and that sometimes the best solutions are inspired by the past. Our toothpaste tablets have been available in Europe for more than a decade. We’re the U.S. partner of Denttabs, GmbH. (They’ve been in business since 2003.) You can find our better-than-toothpaste products online and in brick-and-mortar retailers across the country. Frequently Asked Questions

  • What’s in Unpaste Tooth Tabs?

We make our toothpaste tablets with simple, quality ingredients that are good for you and the planet. They contain zero preservatives, SLS, sodium saccharin, artificial colors, aluminum or nanoparticles. They’re also gluten free. Here’s the complete list of ingredients:

  • Microcrystalline cellulose polishes your teeth and helps prevent plaque from forming.
  • Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) adjusts the pH and works as a gentle polishing agent.
  • Silica (silica) helps to remove any soft plaque.
  • Amisoft (sodium lauroyl glutamate) is a gentle rinsing agent that helps flush what you brush into the sink.
  • Magnesium stearate is a plant-based ingredient that helps bind the other ingredients into tablet form.
  • Natural mint flavor (from mentha arvensis leaf oil) and menthol gives the mint-flavored toothpaste tablets a fresh, cool taste.
  • Natural cinnamon flavor (from cinnamomum cassia leaf oil) adss a warm, sweet and spicy taste to the cinnamon-flavored toothpaste tablets.
  • Xanthan gum is a natural thickener and gelling agent that gives our tooth tabs their consistency and texture.
  • Stevia is a plant that provides a natural touch of sweetness.
  • Citric acid regulates the tablet’s pH so it’s gentle on sensitive gums.
  • Why are Unpaste Tooth Tabs the world’s greatest?

Our toothpaste tablets may look simple from the outside, but they’re the result of tireless trial and error to get the taste and consistency just right. They crush easily, but aren’t chalky or grainy. The taste is subtle and fresh. They don’t foam or fizz or do anything weird in your mouth. If you’re switching from toothpaste, we bet you’ll find them surprisingly normal.

  • For the fluoride version, how much fluoride is in each tablet?

There is .62 mg of fluoride in each fluoride toothpaste tablet.

  • What’s your packaging made of?

We use soy inks on recycled paper. The interior biofilm coating is made from non-GMO lactic acid. It’s fully composable.

  • What kind of certifications does Unpaste have?

Unpaste Tooth Tabs are made in Europe and FDA registered. We meet strict EU health standards.

  • How many toothpaste tablet flavors do you make?

Right now, just two—mint and cinnamon. But more (including new products) are on the way!

  • Is Unpaste vegan & cruelty free?

Yes. We don’t use any animal-based ingredients and never, ever test on animals. Unpaste is also Leaping Bunny certified.

  • Do Unpaste Tooth Tabs foam?

Nope. Foam doesn’t clean your teeth AND it requires chemicals like sodium lauryl sulfate and diethanolamine (DEA) that can cause canker sores and disrupt hormones. We leave the foam to fancy coffee drinks so we can give you a better brushing experience.

  • I want my local grocery or health food store to sell Unpaste Tooth Tabs. How can I help make this happen?

Aww, thanks! The best way is to have them fill out this form so we can give them the inside scoop and a free toothpaste tablet sample. Or they can email us here.

  • Will Unpaste Tooth Tabs make my teeth whiter?

It’s definitely possible, but it’s not a result of any specific bleaching ingredients. Unpaste polishes your teeth to a high gloss, which greatly increases how much light is reflected. For this reason, teeth appear shinier, similar to how they look after a polishing at the dentist’s office. Unpaste's polishing action also helps remove stains from tea, coffee, red wine and nicotine, making them appear cleaner and whiter.

  • Besides being plastic-free, how else are Unpaste Tooth Tabs better for the environment than toothpaste?

We use waterless, carbon-neutral manufacturing and don’t add any water to our toothpaste tablets.

  • Do Unpaste Tooth Tabs expire?

The official expiration date for the fluoride toothpaste tablets is three years after production, but the fluoride-free tablets only lose a bit of flavor over time and don’t expire.

  • Do your toothpaste tablets contain eugenol?

Only a trace amount found naturally in mint leaves (and only in the mint-flavored tabs).

  • Is there palm oil in your toothpaste tablets?

Our supplier can’t guarantee that the stearic acid in the magnesium stearate and the lauric acid in the sodium lauroyl glutamate is free from palm oil. We are continuously searching for suppliers who can provide these ingredients free from palm oil without compromising product quality.
